In collaboration with the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Berkeley Lab is advancing EcoFABs, standardized experimental tools that improve reproducibility in plant-microbe research. These open-science platforms enable researchers to better understand soil and root ecosystems at scale, supporting innovation in agriculture and bioenergy production. By strengthening shared scientific infrastructure and data-driven research capabilities, this partnership enhances North Carolina’s research ecosystem while supporting U.S. competitiveness in agricultural technology, bio-based manufacturing, and advanced life sciences.

We collaborate with local organizations in every state across the nation to accelerate discovery, boost economies, and address national challenges.
