Advancing Ecosystem Models through Soil Microbiome Research
Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory is partnering with researchers at the University of New Hampshire and the EMERGE Biology Integration Institute to understand how soil microbiomes influence the environment and atmosphere. By analyzing wetlands and thawing permafrost, the collaborative teams investigate how the genetic and metabolic features of microbial communities give rise to ecosystem outputs. This fundamental research is essential for improving predictive ecosystem models.
