The Agile BioFoundry (ABF) is a Berkeley Lab-led consortium of national laboratories that partners with industry and academia to advance the industrial biomanufacturing of fuels and chemicals. seqWell, a global provider of genomic library and multiplexing workflow solutions, partnered with the ABF to develop cost-effective, high-throughput workflows to accelerate the process of engineering organisms for biomanufacturing. The partners aim to use seqWell’s high-throughput next-generation sequencing library prep solutions to open up new avenues in genome engineering.

The National Energy Research Scientific Computing Center (NERSC), located at Berkeley Lab, partners with the Boston-based quantum computing company QuEra Computing to explore neutral-atom technology, an up-and-coming approach to quantum computing. NERSC staff work with researchers to run their projects on QuEra’s hardware, allowing them to study quantum dynamics, solve optimization problems, and prepare entangled quantum states. For the QuEra team, the continued partnership offers more chances to road-test their hardware. The feedback and insights gained from the collaboration have not only informed QuEra’s business development roadmap but have also set the stage for more groundbreaking research in the coming year.
