Low Density Lipoprotein (LDL) Assay for Cardiac Disease Risk
Heart attacks often occur in people whose total cholesterol indicate only moderate risk. A procedure licensed exclusively by Berkeley HeartLab shows a key detail of the cholesterol level:an LDL profile that is found in 40-50% of patients who suffer early heart disease. Individuals with this profile respond well, when identified early, to dietary and drug treatment interventions. Individuals identified with other LDL profiles are offered different treatment strategies. Berkeley HeartLab continues to collaborate with Berkeley Lab on refinements of this procedure.
