Summer REU Fellow; Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, Georgia                          June 2003 – July 2003

▪ Designed and tested a modification to an axisymmetric shear probe to test soil/geomembrane interface strength under the supervision of Dr. J. David Frost of the department of Civil Engineering.
▪ Learned the operation procedures for an axisymmetric shear probe and stylus profilometer.

Undergraduate Teaching Assistant; Cornell University, Ithaca, NY                                   Fall 2003
▪ Organized, ran and graded the laboratory exercises with another undergraduate for Materials Science 281: “The Substance of Civilization,” a history of materials course for non-engineers taught by Dr. Stephen Sass.
▪ Held office hours and special meetings to assist students.

Undergraduate Research Assistant; Cornell University, Ithaca, NY                                  Spring 2004 – Spring 2005
▪ Performed elemental quantification using electron microprobe on planar flow spin cast Al-7%Si foils.
▪ Learned how to operate an electron microprobe, scanning electron microprobe and Knoop microhardness tester.
▪ Worked with Dr. Shefford Baker of Materials Science
▪ Future research will attempt to develop a heat treatment to improve mechanical properties of the foils.

▪ Reviewed numerous models for dislocation motion during cyclic loading under the supervision of Dr. Michael Kassner of the department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering
