Building 88 Issues

• Many interruptions at 88 in the past year
• K. Gregorich’s SAA = Yellow Not being kept up with. 87% compliance
• Need to designate person responsible to monitor SAA
• Inspection of SAA on 09/27/02 9AM

Safety Inspections

• Need to schedule inspections for Non-88 areas:
• Bldg 71 & 72 – 10/30/02 10AM Meet @ 72
• Bldg 70 – 11/13/02 10AM
• Bring safety glasses and wear closed toed shoes
• Key plan drawings (for bldgs to be inspected) will be distributed prior to inspection

Training

• Some issues with training database still being worked out
• Concern that JHQs are not being taken and/or turned in
• Some have not taken EHS10
• If someone cannot attend EHS10, PLEASE let us know!

Students

• Students need to be watched!
• Maybe develop a form and have group leader AND students sign to show training was given
• Will signing a piece of paper stop incidents from happening?
• Write procedures down as required and performed

Hazard/Safety Issues

· Corrective actions for SAA – K. Hardy to look at SAA regularly

· SA report – 2 documents: Sa report and validation table

· General safety guidelines need to be adopted (organized system for identifying hazards)

· HEAR forms must be filled out by project/experiment and distributed to PIs and people who manage labs

· Lessons Learned (Handout): Incident at student lab

· We must show that we are using safety guidelines for ALL whether they are here for one day or one year

Division Issues

• New division director will be installed sometime this year
• No change in SNO lab in Bldg 51 – mostly storage
• Next meeting: 12/09/02 10AM
