General Research Interests
I study soft matter systems, both biological and inorganic, using models and methods based on statistical mechanics. My recent work concerns the mechanics and dynamics of single molecules of DNA; the self-assembly of protein complexes, bio-inspired polymers (with Ronald Zuckermann and Paul Ashby, Molecular Foundry) and functionalized colloids (with Stefan Bon, Warwick); and the pattern-forming dynamics of actin in single-celled organisms (with Nigel Burroughs and Till Bretschneider, Warwick).

MSD Research Projects
Molecular Foundry: the Theory of Nanostructured Materials Facility program
