General Reseach Interests
The aim of my research is to explore the physics of complex materials, such as nanostructures and strongly-correlated electron systems, using the tools of ultrafast science. This is facilitated through the development of new ultrafast sources and spectroscopies tunable across much of the electromagnetic spectrum. Fundamental questions concerning the events that occur during and after light-matter interaction can be addressed via these tools. Spectroscopy with ultrashort terahertz (THz), infrared, and X-ray pulses is a quickly evolving and highly interdisciplinary field of research. Such pulses are shorter than many basic quantum processes, providing in turn a powerful means to observe and disentangle complex electronic correlations.
