General Research Interests
Prof. Alivisatos’ research concerns the structural, thermodynamic, optical, and electrical properties of colloidal inorganic nanocrystals. He investigates the fundamental physical and chemical properties of nanocrystals and also works to develop practical applications of these new materials in biomedicine (sensors) and renewable energy (photovoltaics).

MSD Research Projects:
Molecular Foundry: the Inorganic Nanostructures Facility,
Biomolecular Materials
Self-assembly of Organic-Inorganic Nanocomposite Materials
Physical Chemistry of Semiconducting Nanocrystals Synergistic Approach to New Classes of Hydrogen Storage Materials
