GREEN TEAM
BY-LAWS


ARTICLE I

NAME

Section 1. The name of this Association is The Green Team.

ARTICLE II

MISSION/ STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

Section 1. To provide opportunities for Laboratory employees to
  1. learn more about ecology and the environment
  2. participate in ecological and environmental activities to improve their working environments at LBNL, and their communities.

ARTICLE III

ACTIVITIES

Section 1. Activities of the Green Team are centered around community environmental improvement. Meetings, public talks, educational activities, newsletters, and group projects both on site and in the community will be conducted by Laboratory employees and their invited guests.

ARTICLE IV

MEMBERSHIP

Section 1. Membership in the Green Team is informal and is activity based. LBNL employees, their family members, and retirees may attend any meeting and serve on any team project. There are no fees or dues for membership.

ARTICLE V

SPONSORSHIP

Section 1. Sponsorship of activities will be evaluated by their benefit to LBNL and the community and arranged through the Community Relations Office. All activities will honor LBNL, local, state, and federal legal requirements. In case of conflict or disagreement, the Community Relations Office decision shall prevail.

ARTICLE VI

MEETINGS

Section 1. Membership meetings will be held no less than once a year in the month of October and will be announced two weeks prior to the meeting. The election of the Steering Committe Chairperson will take place at the annual membership meeting. Steering committee and working groups will meet on an as-needed basis.

Section 2. "Robert's Rules of Order" is the standard procedural reference for the conduct of all meetings except when in conflict with the by-laws.

ARTICLE VII

STEERING COMMITTEE

Section 1. The Steering Committee shall consist of a Chairperson, a representative from the Community Relations Office and the Chairs of each activity team. This group will meet as needed to plan activities and events. Decisions about activities will be based on a majority vote with approval by the Community Relations Office.

ARTICLE VIII

ELECTIONS

Section 1. The Steering Committee Chairperson will be elected by membership vote at the annual meeting. Activity chairs will be determined by the attendees at the first organizational meeting of the activity by majority vote.

ARTICLE IX

BY-LAWS AMENDMENTS

Section 1. These by-laws may be amended by a majority vote of the Steering Committee during any meeting scheduled for this purpose.
