Requesting a Revision to PUB-3000

The following procedure describes the process for making changes to Berkeley Lab’s Health & Safety Manual (PUB-3000). It identifies the Responsible Chapter Authors who participate in the revision process, and Appendix A outlines their respective responsibilities. A request to change PUB-3000 may be initiated by any Berkeley Lab employee.

If you wish to request a revision or update to a PUB-3000 chapter, follow these steps:

  1. Contact the Responsible Chapter Author for that chapter. All revisions must go through that person. Click here to download a list of Responsible Chapter Authors.
  2. Submit PUB-3000 revisions to the Responsible Chapter Author, using standard PUB-3000 format and style.
  3. Keep the search engine’s capabilities in mind as you draft your revisions. Because the engine is literal, it can only find words that actually exist in PUB-3000. Concepts and ideas not represented by exact phrases will not be found, so try to keep your revisions simple.
  4. To review the policy for making revisions to PUB-3000, consult Appendix A in Chapter 1 of PUB-3000.
  5. Consult the PUB-3000 Editor if you need editorial assistance.

To enable rapid dissemination of revisions on an interim basis (until they can be included in the next PUB-3000 revision), policy change notifications are published in Today at Berkeley Lab. Click here to view archived policy changes and reminders.
