POLICY

Berkeley Lab organizations must manage their work processes by:

  • Communicating clearly to affected staff the goals, objectives, and procedures of the work processes
  • Identifying and mitigating the hazards and risks of the work processes
  • Instituting process controls to enhance performance, quality, and safety
  • Authorizing the work to signify that the required procedures, controls, and resources are in place
  • Establishing document and records control measures to ensure the availability of accurate information

A process occurs when a combination of people, materials, equipment, and actions interact to produce a given product or service.  The process is managed by the application of system controls to assure the quality and safety of the product or service.  This section describes the controls deemed necessary for Berkeley Lab work processes.
