Lead

The LBNL Lead Program provides hazard assessment, work place evaluation, exposure monitoring, control measure design, and training classes to eliminate or minimize your exposure to lead.

Potential sources of lead exposure at LBNL include handling lead brick or sheet, removing lead-based paint, using lead-containing solder, disturbing dusts in lead-contaminated areas including some ventilation systems, and performing hot work on lead-containing materials

Information on lead soldering and recommended safe work practices is provided in the Safe Soldering Work Practice fact sheet.

The Laboratory offers two training courses on lead. EHS 329, a web-based training course, for employees who may be exposed to lead from work. EHS 330 is required for employees who have been identified as having a greater potential for exposure.
