| INDUSTRIAL HYGIENE GROUP | |||
The
Industrial Hygiene Group conducts hazard evaluations for Facilities
construction projects (large and small projects) and small
work orders to identify chemical, physical, and biological
health hazards prior to work commencing to ensure Facilities
and subcontractor employees will be safe during their work.
Health hazards that are routinely evaluated include, but are
not limited to, asbestos, lead, mercury, chemical contamination,
sharps, abandoned chemical containers, epoxy work, chemical
products, etc. EH&S IHs work closely with Facilities Project
Managers, Project Superintendents, Project Engineers, and
Facilities Crafts personnel to discuss the scope of projects
to determine the potential hazards that need to be controlled.
During the actual construction or demolition work, EH&S
IHs provide field oversight to ensure these hazards are adequately
controlled through engineering and administrative controls
and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is used appropriately.
