Transportation Program for Public Transit and Vanpool Users
Deduct up to $100 per month of your transportation costs on a pretax basis through two programs offered by the Lab.
Eligible employees who choose to participate in either program will have a maximum of $100 of their transportation costs deducted on a pretax basis. The remaining cost (if applicable) will be taken out of post-tax pay.
This pretax program is available to all employees on Lab payroll except:
- Graduate Student Research Assistants and Student Assistants
- Participating guests
- Limited employees
- Contractors
A. PUBLIC TRANSIT PROGRAM
The Site Access Office is pleased to announce the introduction of a new commuter benefit program. The WAGEWORKS program will enable you to order and pay for your pretax transit passes online with automated payroll deductions. Transit tickets will be mailed to your home address or any location you specify.
Vanpool participants (including Enterprise or VPSI) may also sign up for pretax benefits through WAGEWORKS.
WAGEWORKS offers a wide range of transit options, including the following (see website below for additional carriers):
- BART
- AC Transit
- Amtrak
- Muni
- SamTrans
- Caltrain

How do I find a group with a similar commute?
Contact RIDESHARE to receive a list of potential vanpool partners. RIDESHARE will help you:
- Join a vanpool
- Form a vanpool with a leased van
- Form a vanpool with your own van
- Keep your vanpool on the road with support
services
