Following is the current list of designated positions requiring background checks at Berkeley Lab. Please note that this list is not part of the Laboratory's Regulations and Procedures Manual and is subject to change at any time:

*Criteria Codes

1	Universal access to facilities
2	Direct responsibility for the care, safety, and security of humans; primary responsibility for Laboratory-wide property control
3	Direct access to, or responsibility for, special nuclear materials
4	Responsibility for operation of Laboratory-owned vehicles and subject to Department of Transportation certification
5	A requirement for a professional license, certificate, or degree, the absence of which would expose the Laboratory to legal liability and/or adverse public reaction
