High School

HSSPP — Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory provides talented high school students from the San Francisco Bay Area with summer work experiences in science, computing sciences, technology and related areas.

Biotech Partners — serves to link Berkeley Lab investigators with students participating in Biotech Academies at Berkeley High School and Life Academy in Oakland as well as those in the Biotech Certificate program at Laney Community College in Oakland for internship opportunities targeting skilled entry level technical career positions.

Undergraduate

DOE Community College Initiative (CCI) — Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory provides talented high school students from the San Francisco Bay Area with summer work experiences in science, computing sciences, technology and related areas.

Science Undergraduate Laboratory Internships (SULI) — summer SULI is a ten-week program primarily focused on hands-on research experiences for students from across the nation.

Faculty and Student Teams Program (FaST) is an opportunity to prepare students from colleges and universities with limited prior research capabilities and those institutions serving minorities underrepresented in the fields of science for careers in science, engineering, computer science, and technology and for their own professional development.

Biology Scholars Program (BSP) The Biology Scholars Program (BSP) is an undergraduate program at UC Berkeley designed to promote the success of students from economic, gender, ethnic and cultural groups historically underrepresented in the biological sciences.

STAR (Science Teacher and Researcher) The California State University in partnership with Department of Energy national research laboratories and the NASA Ames Research Center is announcing the 2008 Science Teacher and Researcher (STAR) pre-service science teacher summer research program.

NIH Supplements for Underrepresented Minorities

For NIH grant recipients, a supplement may be submitted at any time. Supplements include support for high school students, undergraduates, graduate research assistants, post-graduate training opporunties as well as for investigators developing independent research careers.

Teacher

Industry Initiatives for Science and Math Education (IISME) is an 8 week summer internship opportunity that provides teachers with experiences and tools they need to adapt their practices and change their schools so that all students are prepared to be lifelong learners, responsible citizens and productive employees.

Pre-Service Teacher (PST) are paid internships in Science, Math, and Technology for students that have decided on a teaching career in one of these disciplines. Students work with scientists or engineers on projects related to the laboratories' research programs and have the mentorship of a Master Teacher who is currently working in K-12 education.
