Position Information and Course Types:

- Bachelor's Degree in Arts or Sciences, with an emphasis on Business Administration, Public Administration, Accounting, Finance, Statistics, Economics, and/or Mathematics (Required)c

• Job Competencies
- Budget Formulation/Planning - ability to independently create, develop, model, and/or forecast program/project budgets of a highly complex nature under consultative supervision. Budget Execution and Controls - ability to independently track and report budgets of a highly complex nature under consultative supervision.
- Budget/Quantitative Analysis and Critical Thinking - ability to independently interpret, analyze and/or critique the quality and viability of budgets of a highly complex nature under consultative supervision.
- Financial Systems and Tools - ability to expertly use the Laboratory's financial management systems (e.g., Budget and Planning System) and related software applications (e.g., Microsoft Excel and Access) to formulate, execute, and analyze budgets/plans of a highly complex nature under consultative supervision. .
- Financial/Costing Accounting - expert knowledge and proficiency in financial and cost accounting concepts and practices, such as Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS).
- Communications - ability to communicate effectively and clearly, both orally and in writing.
- Ownership and Quality of Work - the ability to demonstrate ownership of assigned work that is performed in a timely, accurate, and complete manner. Exhibits dependability with consistent attendance. Demonstrates initiative and proactivity in carrying out assigned work.
- Environment, Safety, and Health - ability to lead the Field Operations Unit and/or perform work at the Laboratory in a safe and sound manner consistent with EHS regulations and guidelines.
- Ability to lead, manage, direct, influence and/or coach others in the Field Operations Unit to achieve assignment commitments and desired results.
- Institutional Responsibilities - expert knowledge about Berkeley Lab mission, policies, ethical work standards, and contract compliance.
- Operational Responsibilities - expert knowledge about supervisory operational accountabilities, in areas such as safety, security, managing funds, conflicts of interest, and signature authority.
- Managing Employees - ability to lead and/or work with Field Operations Unit employees in a variety of management situations including recruiting and selection, performance management, negotiation and conflict resolution, taking corrective action, sexual harassment, and complying with EEO/affirmative action guidance and regulations.
