Miami International Airport's South Terminal Now Open

Miami International Airport (MIA) opened a $1.1 billion South Terminal in early September that will accommodate eight million passengers a year flying throughout the United States, Latin America, and Europe.

The South Terminal is 1.7 million square feet with 28 new gates. It has 40 customs booths for quick screening of international passengers. Security features of the terminal include a new baggage screening system, three additional security checkpoints, and a new federal inspection services facility with passport control and baggage checks in one area.
