How “STIMULATING”!
As you know, LBNL is a recipient of the Federal stimulus bill, and will be receiving over $100M for infrastructure renewal and other related activities. It will be our responsibility to spend it wisely, safely, and be prepared to report our progress and financials accurately and frequently. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for us, so we need to make the best of it. Many of you are supporting that effort. Thank you!
In order to meet the Lab’s needs for the anticipated increase in workloads, new temporary employees will be hired throughout the Lab complex.
OCFO Diversity Council Rep.
Grace Huang from the Controller's Office is the OCFO's representative on the LBNL Diversity Council. Grace has been a member of the Council since 2008.
The goal of the Diversity Council is to provide an environment that recruits and retains a diverse work force that reflects the local community and the nation. The council meets to identify and share practices that have proven to be effective in enhancing diversity.
Please contact Grace for any suggestion or idea regarding the diversity initiatives at the Lab.

Ah…Spring!
Time for Rebirth, Renewal and, Of Course, RELOCATION!
There are many, many people that I would like to personally thank for making our move go as smoothly as it did. Sure there were little bumps in the road, but moving 100+ employees and all their belongings went extremely well. And when we finally got settled into our new spaces, Facilities crews were very responsive to fixing or adjusting lighting, cube walls, hanging pictures, you name it, as was the case with the computer technicians and phone technicians. So a great BIG THANK YOU to:
Without all the above named folks and many more whose names I unfortunately don’t know, this move would never been as successful as it was. KUDOS to all for your hard work and dedication. On behalf of everyone in the OCFO:
THANK YOU!

Now that all of the OCFO is, home, on the hill…all feels right with the world. I don’t know about you, but it sure has made life easier for me, not having to commute back and forth from 937 to the hill. Lots of folks have stopped me to say how much they enjoy being in their new surroundings with an abundance of nature, lots of wildlife (gobble, gobble) and a feeling of safety and security.
Recently, the OCFO has chalked up several recordable injuries. Some are due to ergonomic reasons and some are slips, trips, and falls. Please be reminded that if you are experiencing any pain at your workstation, reporting it EARLY can really have a positive impact on fixing the problem and keeping yourself healthy and pain-free.
