Will I be able to find a parking space at the Lab?
The Facilities Division has determined that there are enough Lab parking spaces to accommodate the expected increase in cars. However, not all employees will be able to park near their buildings. Parking will also be challenging because of upcoming construction projects. Seventy spaces will be lost in the area known as "the pit" in order to stage construction. The "Z" lot above the cafeteria (45 spaces) will also be closed during the construction of the ALS Guest House. Some of these construction projects will overlap. The Lab encourages employees to ride-share, walk, bike, or use public transit whenever possible.

What about bus services?
The Lab provides on-site shuttle bus service throughout its 200-acre facility, and off-site bus service from the UC Campus and the Berkeley BART station at the corner of Center Street and Shattuck Ave. The Facilities Division is exploring ways to improve the bus service, contingent upon available funding and feasibility.

Why is my new workspace smaller?
Space is at a premium. The Lab site has to absorb approximately 180 new people in office space that is already very efficiently utilized.

Can the Lab cafeteria accommodate 180 more people?
Yes, cafeteria lunch hours have been extended to span from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Will I get an ergonomics evaluation?
Yes, ergonomics staff will visit every employee involved in the Building 937 move to evaluate their ergonomics needs. Employees with special ergo workstations will have their stations moved to their new workspace.
