ADVANTAGES:
- Brighter than existing sources by two orders of magnitude
- Longitudinal emittance improved by four orders of magnitude
- Significant phase coherence
ABSTRACT:
Max Zolotorev of Berkeley Lab has invented a technology to produce a pulsed electron source in the 10-100 eV range with brightness approximately equal to 0.6 and longitudinal emittance four orders of magnitude smaller than currently achieved values. The invention enables a wide range of applications utilizing angstrom-scale spatial resolution and micro-eV–scale energy resolution.
