Working with mirrors is a part of Eddie's line of work. But he will leave figuring out this puzzle to you:
When you look in a mirror, the left and right sides are reversed. Why aren't the top and bottom?
And now...the answer!
The reflection is through the plane of the mirror. If you look into a mirror on the ceiling, you will see yourself looking down. However, there is still the reversal of left and right. Chemists call this reversal "chirality." Think about what the reflection would look like if human beings were symmetric from front to back as well as from left to right. Would we even have left and right?
This month's winner was Tracie Thomas from St. Louis, Missouri. Congratulations, Tracie! Be sure to check out the new puzzler this month!
Note: The MicroWorlds editors apologize for the length of time it has taken to post the answer to Eddie's puzzler. We have been busy making other improvements to the site, and we sincerely hope you enjoy them!
