Puzzler Challenge

ANNETTE GREINER'S PUZZLER:

Annette Greiner's favorite quote is "Simplify, simplify," from Henry David Thoreau. She finds that it works for writing, editing, and life in general. One good way to simplify your writing is to say things in as few words as possible. For example, can you simplify this sentence into just four words?
The canine under your legal responsibility is suffering from an infestation of parasitic arthropods.

For this month's puzzler, see if you can simplify this sentence to only six words:
Repairing by taking up a single loop of thread in a timely manner obviates taking up nine such loops in the future.

This month's winner was Bryn Reeves of Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire, Wales. Several other students also gave correct answers, but Bryn's was the first. (Sometimes it pays to be fast!) Congratulations, Bryn!
