One important function of the LBNL-PA will be to organize a supplemental mentoring process including programs where additional training can occur in practical topics such as laboratory management, budgeting, grant writing, publishing, preparing a job application, etc. This supplemental formation could offer established scientists a chance to provide advice on professional conduct, and strengthen the entire scientific community inside LBNL.
This organization has been initiated from within the Life Sciences Division, with the encouragement of its director Dr. Mina Bissell, but ALL divisions and disciplines at the Lab are encouraged to participate.
We invite postdocs from all over the Lab to help organize and structure this group. We are particularly looking for a nucleus of people interested in leading the Association. All postdocs interested in volunteering or commenting can e-mail postdoctoral fellows

before the 20th of June, toward having an organizational meeting in July. The goal is to get the Association off and running by the fall, to be able to welcome new and continuing postdocs with the results and ideas generated at the July meeting.
