J-1 Application Process at LBNL:
- Download and fill out the Request for IAP-66 for J-1 Visiting Researchers application form.
- Fax the completed form to IRSO at 510-486-7563. We will prepare the IAP-66 certificate of eligibility and send it to you via Federal Express.
- Take the IAP-66 certificate of eligibility to your nearest U.S. Embassy/Consulate to apply for a J1 U.S. Visa Stamp to enter the U.S.
- The application process here takes about two days from the date the we receive the IAP-66 application and Request for Information from the applicant. Federal Express and DHL require 2-5 business days for delivery to addresses outside the United States.
- Most U.S. Consulates require from 3 days to five weeks to process applications for Visiting Researchers and issue the U.S. Visa stamp in the applicant's passport.
