Extension of Guests
When processing an appointment extension for a guest, please always follow these steps:
- Please update information on PGIF and provide to your HR contact.
- If guest is a visa holder, please contact IRSO (x6326; BOrtega@lbl.gov). IRSO may require you to have your guest provide updated visa documentation.
Please note that appointment cannot be extended until IRSO informs you that proper visa documentation has been provided.
IMPORTANT: Appointment End Date MUST NOT exceed Visa End Date.
- If guest is from a Sensitive Country:
Algeria
Armenia
Azerbaijan
Belarus
China, People's Republic of (includes Hong Kong and Macau)
Georgia
India
Iraq
Israel
Kazakhstan
Kyrgyzstan
Libya
Moldova
Pakistan
Russia
Taiwan
Tajikistan
Turkmenistan
Ukraine
Uzbekistanor a Terrorist-Sponsoring Country:
Cuba
Iran

SyriaPlease also notify the Foreign Visits and Assignments (FVA) office at FVA@lbl.gov (or call x7572 if you have any questions). For additional information about DOE foreign national requirements, please visit the FVA website.
For guests from terrorist-sponsoring countries, please contact the FVA Office at least 3-4 months in advance. All extension requests must go through the full DOE approval process and may take months to complete.
- Guest from terrorist-sponsoring countries cannot be extended until you receive authorization from the FVA Office. Once authorization has been received, please contact your HR representative for HRIS update.
