Editorial Services
CSO’s editorial services include various levels of editing, including proofreading, copy editing, light content editing, substantive content editing, and original text. Most jobs will include two or more levels of editing. Our hourly rate is $74/hour.
Proofreading
Comparing an original to a copy. This can be useful for checking scanned text or text that has been manipulated by retyping or layout.
Copy Editing
Checking spelling, punctuation, capitalization, and grammar, as well as consistency of style and content (e.g., use of the same name for a scientific technique throughout a work).
Light Content Editing
Copy editing, some organizational editing such as restructuring a paragraph or moving text to a better location, document organization, and some rewriting.
Substantive Content Editing
The editor looks at the organization of the document and whether it achieves its intended purpose. In addition to copy editing, this type of edit can include rewriting sections for consistency of tone, deleting sections that do not further the objective of the work, and adding sections to clarify important or difficult points.
Original Text
CSO can provide writing services if you need original text. You can provide information either in the form of related texts such as published journal articles or through interviews.
