May Tutorials to Look at Collaborative Tools and Sociology, Managing Large Software Projects

In the networking community, some experts argue that it’s not the technology that poses the hurdles, but rather the sociology. The Lab’s Distributed Systems Department delves into this area in their next tutorial for LBNL staff: “Collaborative Tools and Sociology,” to be held from 1-4 p.m. Friday, May 6, in Perseverance Hall. The session will discuss a number of tools and the sociological aspects of using them to collaborate.

The fourth and final tutorial in the series will discuss “Tools and Techniques for Managing Large Scientific Software Projects.” To be held from 1-4 p.m. Friday, May 13, in Perseverance Hall, the session is aimed at researchers who are trying to manage a mess of code that was developed over several years by a bunch of grad students who no longer work here, or who may be about to start a large software project, and want to make sure you get it right this time around? This tutorial will cover a number of tools and techniques that will save you time and make your software more maintainable.

There is no charge for the tutorials, but please pre-register by email jkyonemura@lbl.gov. Read more about the tutorials.
