More Mozilla Tips and Tricks for Browsing and Email

One useful feature of Mozilla that makes web browsing more convenient is tabbed browsing. It allows multiple web sessions to run in the same window. Kevin Broussard of the ITSD Help Desk explains how you can simply switch to another session by clicking on its tab.

To activate tab browsing, follow the steps below:

In Mozilla, click on the Edit menu and select Preferences.

Next, in the Preferences window, click the plus sign next to the Navigator category item, and select Tabbed Browsing from the submenu.

On the right side of the window make sure both boxes are checked under “Open tabs instead of windows for.”

Click OK.

In the browser window either select File, New, Navigator Tab or on your keyboard hold down the Ctrl key and type “T”.

Each time you perform this action you will create another tab. Each tab can be set for its own web address. You can have as many tabs as you like.

You can even bookmark groups of tabs:

Email Tip

Some lab members have reported a problem when they receive multiple attachments to emails. Not all the attachments can be seen in the Attachments pane and sometimes the scroll bar fails to appear. When this happens, how can you access the attachments?

Kevin explains the Help Desk’s solution to the problem. Change the Headers setting, under the View menu from “Normal” to “All,” for this message only. (Because there is a lot of extra data in this view, you will want to return the setting to normal before continuing to the next message.)

This will expand the header bar, and with it the Attachments pane, allowing all attachments to be viewed.
