Reminder: Protect your Computer, Literally

Computer security includes physical security of computing assets. This means that offices and work areas should not be considered "safe" areas to leave unattended electronic devices such as PDA's, laptops and cell phones. Keep these devices with you or secure them, especially when left unattended overnight. A locking screensaver can also prevent unauthorized use of your system when you are away from your desk.

Travelers should be wary of airport screening areas, and leaving items in hotel rooms and unattended conference rooms during breaks. Use hotel safes or cable locks if possible, or carry your items with you. When passing through airport security, wait until your carryon enters the scanning machine before stepping through the metal detector. Make sure you have everything before leaving the security area.

Report any disappearance of Lab equipment immediately to Site Security at x5472.
