Record an Absence Greeting on Your Phone

If you plan to be away from your telephone for an extended period of time and will not be listening to messages, follow these instructions to record an extended-absence greeting. The greeting, which overrides your personal greeting, should indicate when you will return to the office and suggest another person to call in your absence. Unlike other options, callers will not be able to leave you a voicemail.

To record your extended-absence greeting:

1. press 4 to select Greetings
2. press 7 to select Record Extended-Absence Greeting

Record the greeting.

Before ending the recording you can:

a. press 2 to review the last several seconds
b. press 22 to back up to the beginning
c. press 3 to erase entire greeting
d. press * to pause or resume greeting

3. press # when you have finished recording

Your extended-absence greeting is now on.

NOTE: When you return to the office and want to switch back to your personal greeting, you must first turn off the extended-absence greeting.

To turn off your extended absence greeting:

1. press 4 to select Greetings
2. press 2 to turn off extended-absence greeting
