The Lab’s Basic Ordering Agreements (BOA), which streamline the purchase of specified Micron PCs and Dell laptops, have been upgraded to include a more powerful laptop and three sizes of flat-panel displays.

Under the Dell BOA, the new laptop is the C640 model (replacing the C610). The main difference is the choice of more powerful processors -- mobile Pentium 4 processors starting at 1.8 gigahertz and going up to 2.4 GHz. The choices start with 256 megabytes of memory but allow you to purchase up to 1 gigabyte. Disk capacity starts with a 20-gigabyte drive, but you can choose a 30- or 40- gigabyte drive as well.

To learn more about the two laptops available under the BOA, go to the Dell Online Store for LBNL staff, click on Purchasing Tools and follow the links to Your Online Store. Both laptop models are part of a broader contract (DOE ICPT), which Lab customers can also use.

Under the Lab’s Basic Ordering Agreement for buying Micron PCs, staff members can now choose 15-, 19- and 21.3-inch digital flat panel monitors made by Samsung, in addition to the 17-inch model that has been an option for the past year. The BOA continues to offer the 17-, 19- and 21-inch CRT monitors, as well.
