New Oracle Calendar Client Offers Major Enhancements Over Netscape Version

Are you still using the Netscape Calendar client for scheduling? If so, you should really try the new Oracle Calendar clients for the lab scheduling system available from the Lab's software download page. The Oracle clients offer major enhancements to the features, speed and reliability of the old Netscape clients. One major enhancement to all the clients is email reminders of upcoming events.

A note of clarification: When the Lab implemented its central electronic calendaring system, the application was provided by Netscape. It was then upgraded and repackaged as Steltor CorporateTime. Oracle recently bought Steltor, hence the new name of Oracle Calendar.

Changes to Calendar clients since Netscape Calendar include improvements for various platforms:

Windows clients have seen a substantial improvement in usability and customizations. Among the many new features are:

  • User-customized color schemes
  • Ability to switch between windows while creating a new entry
  • Ability to open group views from the new meeting window or agenda window
  • Color printing

Mac clients have been rewritten for OSX. The new 5.2.3 calendar client offers bug fixes and major revisions to the client interface for easier use.

Linux and Solaris clients have been upgraded to include features similar to the PC and Mac clients in look, feel and functionality.
