Remote
Access Password Protection: Change Is Good
Choosing a hard-to-guess password and then changing it frequently is a key part of cybersecurity, whether you’re logging onto the network from your Lab office or using the Lab’s Remote Access Service from an off-site location. The LBLnet Services Group, which provides the remote access, recommends that the more often you travel and use the service, the more frequently you should change your password. At the very least, you should change it every six months. Lab employees with remote access accounts can change their passwords using the LBLnet RAS Account Web Access Page. “Most folks find it easier to ‘set it and forget it,’ but it’s important to pay attention to all your passwords, to keep the hackers guessing and the Lab secure,” said Ted Sopher, head of LBLnet Services. “In cybersecurity, passwords continue to be a key line of defense for user access to systems and services. Making sure your password is secure is a powerful cybersecurity tool that each and every one of us can control.” |
