Vendor to Provide On-Site HP printer Support Beginning Oct. 1
SSP Data Products will be taking over maintenance of HP printers at the
Lab beginning Oct. 1. The current vendor, the UC Berkeley Hardware Support
Group, did not submit a bid for the new contract.
SSP is a privately owned company that has been in business for 20 years.
While details are still being worked out, employees should still contact
the Help Desk (X4357) or submit
a Help Request if they have a printer problem.
Costs will be $65 per hour for normal priority and $115 per hour for high
priority (same business day) support. Ninety percent of all requests will
be completed within three working days. According to the vendor, the technician
will stock commonly used parts.
Warranty repairs will be done based on the current HP authorized model.
Parts are free, but labor is not, unless the customer elects to ship the
printer to HP or one of its authorized repair centers (including SSP).
