| Lab
employees can learn about the latest Dell Notebook computers, portable projectors
and related peripherals at a program offering displays and short presentations
on Wednesday, April 24. The program, called "Dell Notebooks: Projecting
the Future," will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Perseverance Hall
and all interested employees are invited. Refreshments will be served. The
event is sponsored by the Lab's Computing Infrastructure Support (CIS) Department.
Representatives from Dell will be displaying the company's new Latitude
C400, a 3.6-pound unit with a 12.1-inch screen and two other notebook
models. Barbara Stuller of Hoffman Media Systems will be displaying two
NEC projectors, a new projector from Panasonic, Da-Lite screens, Bose
speakers and SmartBoard, an interactive whiteboard. CIS staff members
will be on hand to show how to order computers using the Lab's Basic Ordering
Agreement.
The program will start at 11 a.m. with an hour of demonstrations. At
noon, Brian Santrock of Dell will talk about where the company's notebook
technology is heading and will discuss the firm's under-three-pound notebook
set to debut in May. Stuller will then talk about various presentation
peripherals. The presenters and the hardware will be available for demos
and discussions from 1-2 p.m.
