IT Division Software Service

The IT Division provides a central inquiry, pricing, requisitioning and ordering service for selected software titles and support/maintenance. In some cases, we encourage bulk buys so the lab can negotiate discounts above and beyond what single unit purchases provide.

Most recently, the software download site has been enhanced (with vendor agreement) to allow us to distribute selected software titles when customers need them and to place a "true-up" order for everything downloaded during the month. Currently available on the software site:

If you have an interest in any one of the following products, Send an email to licenses@lbl.gov. Include the vendor, part number or title, quantity, and project id. A requisition will be created by IT and processed by Procurement using procedures developed for these specific products.

Deployment depends on the specific software title. For example, if we order ChemDraw Pro, you will be sent a web link to download the software from the vendor's site. In other cases, we already have the master media and can provide a copy of the CDs immediately upon placing the order. For these situations, we also have the product keys that are necessary to activate the software. Contact the IT Help Desk at x4357.
