Mission Statement
Develop and support a central backup service that results in a secure, highly available and cost effective disaster recovery service for LBNL computing systems.
Major Services / Capabilities
Deliver a high quality technical backup service for production systems using the Veritas Netbackup Software Solution.
Develop and maintain an archiving capability, as well as an off site tape handling capability for disaster recovery.
Provide support for Unix, Linux, PC and MAC desktop and server systems.
Provide reliable monitoring tools that can be accessed by customers as well as support staff.
Provide mechanisms that allow users to use the system in a Self Help Mode (for backup confirmation and restore requests).
