CUPS users, please make sure to carry out the following simple procedure
to ensure that your print jobs goto the right printer; otherwise jobs
that you print without specifying a printer may go into a "holding queue",
called aaa-default-printer.
If you are using Linux, please run this command:
lpoptions -d PRINTER
For example,
lpoptions -d myprinter
man lpoptions gives details.
Of course, myprinter needs to be a valid printer.
This should create
~/.lpoptions
with this line in it:
Default myprinter
Thus print jobs by default will goto myprinter
NOTE WELL:
If your printer can print duplex AND you want to use duplex by default, try
lpoptions -d PRINTER -o sides=two-sided-long-edge
