The IT Division continues to block the new release of Microsoft's Internet Explorer (IE) 7 to all computers in IT's Active Directory, which includes most Lab Windows users. At this point, IE 7 has not proven to be compatible with many of the Lab's institutional systems, including the following:
In some cases, IE 7 has been downloaded and reverting back to IE 6 did not work. IT continues to test IE 7 and is 1) actively working with software vendors whose products are not compatible to encourage them to fix the problem, 2) installing the fixes provided by software vendors who have addressed the incompatibility, and 3) working directly on in-house developed applications to make them compatible as soon as possible.
The IT Help Desk has received very few reports of problems. IT will continue to provide status updates as needed. In the meantime, for the current status of IE 7, go to the Lab's wiki.
