The IT Division has completed a Lab-specific install package of the Firefox 1.5 web browser and the Thunderbird 1.5 email client for Windows users. IT will install these versions on all new systems they deploy. IT staff will also be migrating the groups they support as they perform workstation maintenance in the coming months. If you feel confident updating your own system, go here for downloads. Contact the IT Help Desk for help.
These new versions have a self-update feature and automatic patches that come directly from the Mozilla site. Features that were previously available in Netscape (and broken when IT adopted Mozilla 1.4 a few years ago) have been fixed. For example, the Palm Sync and ability to paste images directly into the body of an email function again.
