| Lab's Computer Protection Program to Offer Windows 2000 Security Course on April 17 |
|
Windows 2000 is here and with it comes a large number of substantial changes related to security. Many of these changes represent security enhancements; many others represent still additional challenges for security professionals and other charged with tightening the security of systems and networks. To help Lab system administrators understand all the changes, the Computer Protection Program is offering a one-day Windows 2000 Security Course on Tuesday, April 17. This course is especially valuable to system and network administrators, system integrators, IT auditors and managers, computer programmers, security administrators and managers, according to instructor Gene Schultz. This course is designed to reach system administrators, information security specialists, and auditors how to apply system and network security controls, based on specific needs, to minimize the risk to security and privacy in a Windows 2000 environment. It begins with an overview of this new operation system to provide a high-level picture, then progresses to an overview of the security-related mechanisms built into this operating system, and then delves into each of a number of important issues that need to be address in order to achieve adequate security. The course will be held in the Bldg. 50 Auditorium from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, April 17. There is no charge, but pre-enrollment is required.
