Computing Infrastructure Support Department Streamlines Web Page for Easier Access to a Multitude of Services

The Computing Infrastructure Support Department (CIS) has created a new Web site to make it easier for Lab employees to tap into a variety of computer support resources. For example, the new page provides links to help you find computer training, buy a new computer, file a help request, download software, get help with email or calendaring, and obtain recharge information. To make the new page even easier to use, it can be accessed from within the Lab network by just typing in www.lbl.gov/help as the location.

At the suggestion of members of the Lab’s Computing and Communications Services Advisory Committee, the new page also features a message area for posting alerts about upcoming shutdowns and system outages, such as the email outage last month (see related article).

The new page replaces three older pages, bringing all the information together on one site. CIS realizes that its services and Web access will continue to evolve, so the new page also includes a link for employees to make suggestions.
