| LBLnet Makes Improvements to LBNL's Remote Access Services |
|
The Lab's Remote Access Services (RAS) are being enhanced with several new features aimed at minimizing some of the most common sources of trouble for RAS users. These features apply primarily to dialup accounts and address problems from lost passwords to unexpectedly high costs for using the service. The idea is to give RAS clients more control over their PPP passwords and recharge account numbers. A new information pamphlet is being produced and will be sent to all RAS clients. The pamphlet contains information about dialup numbers, each client's specific account information, contact lists, answers to frequently asked questions and more. "We designed the pamphlet so that it can be carried along with laptops and can serve as a quick guide to various services we provide," said Ted Sopher, head of LBLnet. "The printed format allows users to access the information even if they're having problems connecting to the Lab." Here are some of the new features:
"Our efforts are focused on improving our client's RAS environment and to make this an ongoing effort," Sopher said. "If you have questions, suggestions or comments regarding LBLnet RAS, please send email to 'ras_suggestions@lbl.gov'." |
