Lab’s Electronic Calendaring System Adds Rooms, Functionality; Upgrade on the Way The Lab’s centralized Calendaring application has been improved with a couple of new features. The 20 conference rooms controlled by the Facilities Department’s WRC (Work Request Center) can now be scheduled into the future beyond the current calendar year. The WRC staff accepted 95 percent of all previously refused meetings for 2001 that were still in the calendar system this week. New reservations will now be accepted for the future on these conference rooms. The Calendaring system has new functionality. Current Palm Pilot users on Mac and PC platforms can now synchronize to Calendar. Curtis McDonald, the Lab's Calendar Master, is looking for beta testers who wish to synchronize Psion and WindowsCE PDAs to the Calendar system. Contact him at calmaster@lbl.gov if you are interested. The Calendar Server will be upgraded soon. This will be an almost completely transparent upgrade for users. The web interface will be the only change noticeable to clients when the server is upgraded. Future email notification will alert you to the exact date of the upgrade. New Calendar clients will be released in January 2001. The release will be kicked off with a series of Brown Bag training sessions for all interested employees, starting Thursday, January 11, 2001.
