CSAC Provides Lab-Wide Guidance on Computing, Communications Issues

Think of it as the ultimate network for computing and communications at the Lab. Each month, representatives from each division and many departments gather as members of the Computing and Communications Services Advisory Committee to provide input on issues of general interest, help develop strategic directions and get an update on national policies which could affect the Lab.

Known as CSAC, the committee serves as a liaison between the Computing Sciences organization and the various divisions and key users of computing resources.

CSAC serves as an advisory committee to Computing Sciences by providing input regarding Computing Sciences services and its infrastructure in support of Berkeley Lab.

CSAC members also serve as a conduit for advising division members of current services available from Computing Sciences. CSAC members regularly review proposals for new computer support programs, provide input on infrastructure issues and help develop strategic plans. The committee meets monthly in Perseverance Hall.
