Cleaning Up Your IMAP Email Files Can Help Save on Data Storage Charges

Since the Computing Infrastructure Technology Group (CITG) began publicizing the importance of limiting the amount of email stored on the central IMAP server, the amount of stored mail has decreased by 50 gigabytes, a whopping 30 percent reduction! Also in that time, the number of users with more than 100 megabytes (MB) of mail on the server has decreased from 431 to 222. The percentage of mail stored in Trash folders (which still counts as stored mail) has dropped from 28 percent to 16 percent. The folks in CITG appreciate your help in reducing the size of the mail store to a much more manageable level. This greatly improves the Lab's ability to provide you with the best email service possible. CITG asks that you please continue to keep the size of your mail store as compact as possible. Please regularly review which messages need to be saved on the IMAP4 server and which can be deleted -- and empty your trash frequently.
