Tip of the Month: IMAP Mail Users Should Check Incoming, Outgoing Servers

All Berkeley Lab IMAP email users should remember that "imap4.lbl.gov" is the Incoming mail server and "smtp.lbl.gov" is the Outgoing mail server. If you have "imap4.lbl.gov" set for both, it can lead to sporadic problems.

To check this value, click on Edit -> Preferences from your Netscape Messenger Mail client.
Then click on "Mail Servers."
"Outgoing mail (SMTP) server" should be set to "smtp.lbl.gov"
"Outgoing mail server user name" should be your LBNL email address (such as JMDoe).
If you have questions, please contact the Help Desk at 486-HELP (X4357).
