New Lab Standard Software
Configuration for PCs Announced
There is a new standard PC software configuration, which is installed
on all new computers purchased through Berkeley Lab's Micron Basic Order
Agreement (BOA). Here's a rundown of the new standard PC software:
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 98SE (Second Edition)
Third-Party Applications:
Netscape Communicator Professional version 4.72, LBNL version with 4.61
Calendar Upgrade (web browser, email and calendaring and scheduling client)
Microsoft Office 2000 Professional, including:
Excel 2000 (Spreadsheet)
Word 2000 (Word processing)
PowerPoint 2000 (Presentation)
Access 2000 (Database)
Photo Editor (Graphics manipulation)
Microsoft Access 95 and 97 (for networked Access 95 and 97 documents)
(Note: the license for Office 2000 Professional covers the licensing of
prior versions on the same computer, such as Office 95 and 97 applications.)
System Utilities:
F-Secure SSH 1.13 (LBNL LETS version with larger fonts)
LBNL Security Banner
Acrobat Reader 4.0
Norton Anti-Virus 2000 Corporate Edition Version 7
LanWorkplace Pro 5.1 (TCP utilities-telnet, ftp etc.)
NAL (Netware Application Launcher)
QuickTime 4.1.1
Wincode 2.7.3a (Multi-purpose email encoder/decoder)

LBNL Truetype Fonts
In most cases, the new configuration can be installed on older Micron
systems, as well. If you are interested in upgrading your standard software
